Kathmandu, March 25 — Newly elected members of Nepal’s House of Representatives have officially taken the oath of office and secrecy in a formal ceremony held on Thursday. The event took place at the temporary Parliament building located in Singha Durbar.

The oath was administered by the senior-most member of the House, Arjun Narsingh KC, in accordance with constitutional provisions. The ceremony marks the formal beginning of the lawmakers’ parliamentary responsibilities.

According to the Parliament Secretariat, 63 lawmakers chose to take their oath in their native languages rather than Nepali, reflecting the country’s rich linguistic diversity. Many lawmakers also attended the ceremony in traditional attire representing their cultural backgrounds.

Due to the ongoing construction of the new Parliament building, the ceremony was conducted in a temporary structure. Authorities confirmed that parliamentary sessions will continue to be held at this location until the permanent building is completed.
