Kathmandu — The vote counting under the proportional representation (PR) system for Nepal’s parliamentary elections has been completed, marking a key milestone in the post-election process. With the final counts from the Gorkha-1 and Ilam-1 constituencies finished, the Election Commission confirmed that all PR ballots nationwide have now been tallied.

According to Kumar Bahadur GC, assistant spokesperson for the Election Commission, the final reports from local election offices are still being compiled and sent to the central office. Once these results are fully verified, the commission will proceed with the formal calculation of how many seats each political party will receive under the proportional representation system.

The commission stated that the seat allocation process is expected to move forward in the coming days as the necessary administrative steps are completed.

As of Wednesday morning, a total of 10,739,115 votes had been counted under the proportional representation category.

Among the political parties, the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) received the highest number of PR votes with 5,139,235. The Nepali Congress followed with 1,749,583 votes, while the Communist Party of Nepal (UML) secured 1,448,854 votes. The Communist Party of Nepal (Maoist Centre) received 805,773 votes.

Meanwhile, the Shram Sanskriti Party collected 378,649 votes, and the Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) received 329,472 votes. Other political parties remain below the minimum vote threshold required to qualify for proportional representation seats.

The Election Commission will soon determine the final distribution of proportional seats in the House of Representatives based on these results.
